Celebrate 60 years: A Legacy of Giving, a Future of Impact

For the past decades, the Maryland Bar Foundation has proudly supported local nonprofits, investing tens of thousands of dollars annually to uplift Maryland’s most vulnerable communities. Through strategic grant making, we facilitate vital work that profoundly impacts and changes lives, ensuring that legal support reaches those who need it most.

This celebratory event was more than just a gala; it served as a recognition of the collective effort that has upheld the honor and integrity of the legal profession for decades. We acknowledged leaders within the Maryland legal community who are actively advancing the profession and continuing our vital mission as we celebrated the awardees of the Legal Excellence Awards as well as the Curran Award. Attendees also had the chance to connect with our distinguished Fellows, a network of dedicated legal professionals deeply committed to accessible justice and upholding the highest standards of the law.

From record breaking attendance to record amounts of funds raise, the Maryland Bar Foundation 60th Anniversary Gala was a huge success. Over $110,000 was raised for the Maryland Bar Foundation to continue its mission and fund even more grants across the state of Maryland that continue to support the state's legal community.

As the philanthropic arm of the Maryland State Bar Association, we award grants that support local nonprofit organizations in their efforts to provide public education as it relates to the legal field, offer legal services to vulnerable community members, and recognize luminaries in the legal profession through our fellowship program.
Each year, the Foundation receives an average of $236,000 in grant requests. Nearly every request seeks funding for a worthy and valuable cause.
